TITLE

Recommendation to request a report from City Manager to the Mayor and City Council on the status of state legislation important to the City and the Governor's May Revise budget proposal and potential impacts for Long Beach.

DISCUSSION

This is an important period in the legislative calendar in Sacramento, with key deadlines approaching. May 27 is the last day for fiscal committees to hear and report on bills introduced in their house, and June 3 is the deadline for the Assembly and Senate to pass bills introduced in that house of the Legislature.

Long Beach is tracking several key bills important to the City as these deadlines approach.

Also, on May 13, Governor Brown released his revised version of the 2016 state budget proposal, which includes initiatives that could impact Long Beach.

Given the timeliness of the legislative activity taking place in Sacramento and its potential impact on Long Beach,we are requesting a report from the City Manager on some of these key bills and the May Revise proposals.

FISCAL IMPACT
