DISCUSSION
City Council approval is requested to amend the contract with TMG Consulting (TMG), to provide project management services and support for the implementation of Long Beach COAST (LB COAST), the City of Long Beach’s (City) new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. Providing this project management support is important in mitigating risk for the ERP project and preventing costly delays. Dennis Finch, the current LB COAST Project Manager, was recently reassigned as an Interim Bureau Manager to help address critical staffing shortages in the Technology and Innovation Department. TMG will help with overall project management tasks for Phase I of the LB COAST implementation. This project has been identified by the Mayor and City Council as high priority.

The City has been utilizing TMG to provide project management support services since October 2018. However, the contract amount is expected to be exhausted before the end of December 2018. Staff is requesting approval to increase the contract amount by $275,000 to ensure the TMG consultant continues providing critical project management support through 2019.

This matter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Amy R. Webber and by Budget Management Officer Rhutu Gharib Amin on November 8, 2018.

TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
City Council action is requested on December 4, 2018, to maintain adequate project management support.
