TITLE
Recommendation to receive and file the report on the Thank America's Teachers Dream Big Teacher Challenge for Lafayette Elementary School.
DISCUSSION
Farmers Insurance kicked off its Thank America's Teachers Dream Big Teacher Challenge earlier this year. The challenge aims to reward teachers for their work inside classrooms and throughout the community by awarded six $100,000 education grants. From February to July 2015, teachers across the country were invited to submit proposals to tell Farmers what they would do with a $100,000 grant. Farmers selected 15 finalists from the extraordinary submissions from teachers all across the country. Of the five finalists from each zone - Western, Central, Eastern - the top two vote getters per zone will each receive a $100,000 grant.
Katherine Tacea, from LaFayette Elementary School which is located in the Sixth District, is named as a finalist in the race for a grant. She is a Long Beach Unified School District teacher for 18 years, who entered her school to integrate technology into the classroom's teaching on a daily basis.
Residents are encouraged to help the school receive the grant by voting daily in October. While you may vote for as many proposals as you like, you can only vote for the same proposal once a day. it is up to you, Long Beach, to support one of our award winning schools and this visionary educator to receive the funds to make their big dream come true. Vote daily before midnight on October 31,2015 to help Lafayette's Elementary School's proposals win at www.thankamericasteachers.com.
