TITLE
Recommendation to request City Manager to provide an update to the City Council within the next 30 days on the planned activities and sponsorships for the 2006 Long Beach Sea Festival.
DISCUSSION
The 2006 Long Beach Sea Festival is scheduled for June 25 to August 26.
Many of the City s major summertime activities are included under the umbrella of the Sea Festival , including the Summer Concerts in the Park, the Dragon Boat Festival , the Jr. Olympic Festival , the Mayor s Cup Race and the Great Sand Sculpture event.
Last year, the City Manager indicated that local businesses would be invited to participate in sponsorship opportunities for these events. With more than 40 activities planned as part of the Sea Festival , I believe it would be beneficial for the Council and public to receive an update on the Sea Festival and the local sponsorship program.
