TITLE
Recommendation to receive and file report on travel to the Conference of Mayors Winter Meeting in Washington, D.C., January 22 - 25, 2008.
DISCUSSION
On January 22 through January 25, I attended the Conference of Mayors Winter Meeting in Washington, DC.
At the event I met with leaders of other municipalities to discuss issues affecting local governments. The U.S. Conference of Mayors is the nonpartisan organization of cities with populations of 30,000 or more. The primary roles ofthe Conference of Mayors are to:
· Promote the development of effective national urban/suburban policy;
· Strengthen federal-city relationships;
· Ensure that federal policy meets urban needs;
· Provide mayors with leadership and management tools; and
· Create a forum in which mayors can share ideas and information.
At the conference, a variety of topics were discussed including: Climate Protection, Green Jobs, Community Development, Housing, Energy, and Transportation.

Approve recommendation.
