DISCUSSION
City Council approval is requested to issue a permit to WASH Multifamily Laundry Systems, LLC (WASH), for the provision, installation, maintenance and management of washer and dryer services, for use by boat owners and visiting boaters, in Long Beach marinas.

Since 1994 for Shoreline Marina, and 2003 for Alamitos Bay Marina (Marinas), the provision, installation, maintenance and management of Marina coin-operated washers and dryers has been provided by outside vendors under a City of Long Beach-approved revenue sharing contract. As the current permittee’s contract was about to expire, a Request for Proposal (RFP) was conducted to locate the best possible provider of washer and dryer services.

The RFP was posted on the City’s Bids Online database, and 6,166 potential proposers were notified of the RFP opportunity. Of those proposers, 14 downloaded the RFP via the City’s electronic bid system. The RFP document was made available from the Purchasing Division, located on the seventh floor of City Hall, and the Purchasing Division’s website at www.longbeach.gov/purchasing . An RFP announcement was also included in the Purchasing Division’s weekly update of Open Bid Opportunities, which is sent to 22 local, minority and women-owned business groups.
