TITLE

Recommendation to increase appropriations in the Capital Projects Fund Group in the Public Works Department by $25,000, offset by the First Council District one-time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to support landscaping and irrigation work along Pine Ave.

DISCUSSION

This Council recommendation requests a funding transfer for the Public Works Department to support sustainable landscaping design and install, as well as irrigation repairs, along Pine Ave. between 3rd and 10th Streets. There is a total of 12 large planters at the corners of each intersection between 4th and 7th Streets which are currently in need of irrigation repairs and improved landscaping. Any additional funds should be used to install sustainable plants in the smaller planters along Pine Ave. in the designated area.

This matter was reviewed by Budget Manager Grace H. Yoon on June 10, 2019.

FISCAL IMPACT

This recommendation provides funds to the Public Works Department to support landscaping and irrigation work along Pine Ave. The total appropriation increase of $25,000 in the Capital Projects Fund Group in the Public Works Department is offset by a transfer of First Council District one-time District Priority Funds from the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department. Completing this work is anticipated to result in a minimal impact to staff hours beyond normal budgeted scope of duties and a minimal impact on Council priorities.

SUGGESTED ACTION

Approve recommendation.
