TITLE
Recommendation to authorize City Manager to grant an easement deed to Southern California Edison Company at 101-½ Golden Shore, for the installation of electric distribution facilities to a cell site; and
Accept Categorical Exemption No. CE-14-071. (District 2)
DISCUSSION
Verizon Wireless, sub-lessee of City property located at 101 ½ Golden Shore, is requiring electrical service to a new cell tower at the subject address. As a result, Southern California Edison (SCE) has requested an easement to provide service to the cell site (Exhibit A). To provide service, SCE will need to trench and install electrical conduits in the easement.
City staff conducted a review of affected agencies and City departments, and there were no objections to granting proposed easement. In conformance with the California Environmental Quality Act, Categorical Exemption No. CE-14-071 was issued for this project on July 31, 2014 (Exhibit B).
This matter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Linda T. Vu on May 4, 2017 and by Budget Analysis Officer Julissa José-Murray on May 5, 2017.
TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
City Council action is requested on June 6, 2017.
FISCAL IMPACT
A document processing fee of $2,108 was paid by the developer and deposited in the General Fund (GF) in the Public Works Department (PW). There is no local job impact associated with this recommendation.
