TITLE
Recommendation to authorize City Attorney to pay the sum of $10,000 in full settlement of lawsuit entitled Brooks v. City of Long Beach, Case No. NC038693.
DISCUSSION
This suit arises out of a trip and fall incident in which plaintiff sustained a wrist fracture. Plaintiff's injuries resulted in a permanent decrease in the wrist's range of motion. Plaintiff's medical bills were approximately $11,413.00. Plaintiff also claimed loss of earnings.
During a court ordered mediation, the parties were able to reach a tentative settlement agreement of $10,000.00, subject to City Council approval.
The Economic Development and Finance Committee approved the proposed settlement on June 19, 2007.
