TITLE

Recommendation to request City Attorney draft resolution officially recognizing every month of September as Service Clubs Month in the City of Long Beach.

DISCUSSION

Long Beach is home to many service clubs that engage in community service and charitable work. Service clubs are organizations focused on promoting community welfare and goodwill. These contributions have included scholarships, educational programs, and many other forms of services that positively impact our communities. In addition, these clubs provide opportunities for members to strengthen and develop skills in leadership, public speaking, and more in conjunction to providing personal and consulting support.

Service clubs have grown into a large network of public-serving individuals who work together to make a positive impact in our communities. These clubs are founded with missions that align with our city’s vision of building a city where everyone can be safe, healthy, and have access to the resources to thrive. As services clubs continue to work with Long Beach communities, it is appropriate that City Council help bring more awareness to them and their work by recognizing every month of September as Service Clubs Month.
