TITLE

Recommendation to approve the expenditure of $20,000 as a reward for information helping to solve the murder of Carina Mancera and Jennabel Anaya on August 6, 2016.

DISCUSSION

On August 6, Long Beach resident Carina Mancera and her four year old daughter Jennabel Anaya were shot to death on the corner of Locust Ave. and 9th St. This tragedy has caused grief throughout the city. At this time, the Long Beach Police believe the offer of a reward may help lead to solving this case. The $40,000 reward would be funded by the County of Los Angeles and the City of Long Beach.

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors will consider an expenditure of $20,000 at its August 16 meeting. The City should also provide $20,000, to be paid from the Police Department Budget.
