TITLE

DISCUSSION
The California Department of Parks and Recreation's Office of Grants and Local Services (California State Parks) Per Capita Program is funded through Proposition 68, approved by voters on June 5, 2018, and appropriated through the California State budget. The Program had $185 million available for local park rehabilitation, creation, and improvement grants to local governments on a per capita basis.

DeForest Park is proposed to receive $177,952 for capital improvements. The funds will be used to upgrade the existing switchgear and for sports fields and restroom improvements which addresses deferred maintenance at the park.

The California State Parks Office of Grants and Local Services will administer the State Per Capita allocations as grants. A grant award in the amount of $177,952 has already been signed for this project and work is prepared to commence upon approval.

This matter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Anita Lakhani on August 22, 2023 and by Budget Development Officer Jennifer Rodriguez on August 29, 2023.

TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
City Council action is requested on September 19, 2023, as the grant agency has already submitted grant agreements for signature by the authorized representative and the project performance period has already begun.
