TITLE
Recommendation to approve Parcel Map No. 61999, including the dedication and abandonment of portions of public right-of-way south of Shoreline Drive at the Pike at Rainbow Harbor; and authorize City Manager to execute the map on behalf of the City of Long Beach, as owner of the subdivided lands.  (District 2)

DISCUSSION
The Pike in Rainbow Harbor is being developed under a leasehold between the City of Long Beach and Developers Diversified Realty. On October 21, 2004, the Planning Commission approved the subdivision of four of the existing parcels south of Shoreline Drive into nine parcels for leasehold purposes. On May 18, 2005, the Local Coastal Development permit was amended to provide for this additional subdivision. The nine parcels created by the map conform to existing and proposed development sites. This parcel map also modifies the public right-of-way by dedicating a public sidewalk
easement between parcels 6 and 7, and abandoning a small portion of Shoreline Drive that will become a part of Parcel 9, all as shown on the attached Exhibit A. Sections 66445 and 66447 of the Subdivision Map Act provide for the abandonment of street areas not shown on the map, and the dedication of new public rights-of-way as shown, respectively. The street area to be abandoned lies south of the existing sidewalk on the south side of
Shoreline Drive, and has neither been improved for public use nor been available for public vehicle purposes for over five years. This matter was reviewed and approved by Assistant City Attorney Heather Mahood on
August 17, 2005.

TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
City Council action on this matter is not time critical. Finalization of Parcel Map No. 61 999facilitates the continued development of The Pike at Rainbow Harbor.
