TITLE
Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $600, offset by the Seventh Council District One-time District Priority Funds, transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide a contribution to the Long Beach Public Library Foundation to support the 20th Annual Grape Expectations on October 1, 2023; and
Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $600 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.
DISCUSSION
Councilmember Roberto Uranga would like to support Grape Expectations which benefits the Long Beach Public Library Foundation.
Since 1996, the Long Beach Public Library Foundation has provided support to enhance Long Beach Public Libraries and encourage literacy and education for all members of the community. The Long Beach Public Library Foundation supports programming such as Family Learning Centers, Makerspace Studios, Literacy Support, student empowerment, and bridging the digital divide.
This matter has been reviewed by Budget Analyst Joe R. Guerrero on August 3, 2023.

This item requires urgency to allow a timely transfer of funds.

FISCAL IMPACT
This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide a contribution toto the Long Beach Public Library Foundation to support the 20th Annual Grape Expectations as written above. The total appropriation increase of $600 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease of appropriation of Seventh Council District One-time District Priority funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department. This recommendation is anticipated to have minimal impact on staff hours beyond the budgeted scope of duties and a minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.
