DISCUSSION
Long Beach is a vibrant city attracting several new businesses and residents. As part of this growth, the waterfront has become a main attraction for both visitors and residents who visit the City, with special events activities being a main part of the lure. These activities range from runs, cultural activities, sporting competitions, and music festivals to name a few. As Long Beach continues to attract new businesses and residents, it is important that the City remains current with all new technology and research available to assist with noise reduction within special events areas. This will create a balance between those who live and visit within the downtown area.

The purpose of this research is to review the current policies in place in Long Beach, as well as research neighboring cities to explore various approaches to modify amplified sound within downtown. This study will consider how to best balance programming with resident and business consideration.
