TITLE
Recommendation to receive and file report on trip to League of California Cities' Legislative Action Days in Sacramento, California.

DISCUSSION
On May 16, 2007 I traveled to Sacramento, California to participate in the League of California Cities' Legislative Action Days. Legislative Action Days are a prime opportunity to receive a briefing on key state issues and meet with legislators to deliver a clear message of preserving local services throughout California. The League's priority issues this year include implementation of the infrastructure bonds, housing, transportation, climate change and preserving local funding in the state budget. During my time in Sacramento, I also held meetings to brief legislators on the creation of a Mental Health Educator position in Long Beach, and discuss various funding options for that position such as Proposition 63.

SUGGESTED ACTION
