TITLE
Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $200, offset by the Eighth Council District One-time District Priority Funds, transferred from the Citywide Activities Department, to provide a donation to United Cambodian Community in support of their Business Expo event; and
Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $200, to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.
DISCUSSION
Founded in 1977, United Cambodian Community (UCC) is a multi-service agency providing youth development, workforce development, gang prevention, and mental health services to address the changing needs of the Cambodian community in Long Beach. UCC also offers programming in four key sectors: Health Equity, Youth Enrichment, Community Integration, and Economic Inclusion. On November 12, 2022, UCC is hosting a Business Expo to connect Cambodian entrepreneurs, non-profits, and organizations with important resources and information. Investment into these causes uplifts entire communities and continues the push for a more equitable Long Beach. I would like the Council’s approval to lend my support toward this necessary event.
