TITLE

Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund (GF) in the Parks, Recreation and Marine Department (PR) by $6,400, offset by the Third and Fourth Council District one-time infrastructure funds transferred from the Capital Projects Fund (CP) in the Public Works Department (PW) to support the Fix Long Beach event, a spay and neuter clinic, on April 14, 2018.

DISCUSSION

BACKGROUND

The Third Council District wishes to partner with the Fourth Council District to provide spay and neuter services to 21 dogs on April 14, 2018.

To qualify for Fix Long Beach's Program, a pet must meet residence, income, age, and size requirements. If the dog does not meet the size and age requirements, a $50 voucher for surgery at a local veterinarian office is provided. As of October 2015, Long Beach has a mandatory spay/neuter law. Cats must be fixed by 4 months old and dogs must be fixed by 6 months old.

TIMING CONSIDERATIONS

[Timing Considerations]

FISCAL IMPACT

The total appropriation increase of $6,400 in the General Fund (GF) in the Parks, Recreation and Marine Department (PR) is offset by a transfer of $3,200 from each of the Third and Fourth Council Districts one-time infrastructure funds in the Capital Projects Fund (CP) in the Public Works Department (PW).

SUGGESTED ACTION

Approve recommendation.

Respectfully Submitted,
