DISCUSSION
The Small Business Development Center located at 309 Pine Avenue is currently in the process of bringing a new operator to the facility to assist with activation, innovation and programming. With this pending change in operation, we believe now is the time to rename the building after someone who spent his life innovating and creating in Long Beach, Shaun Lumachi.

Shaun was born on September 10, 1978, and raised in the Bay Area. While attending Pinole Valley High School, Shaun served on the PVHS Youth Commission, was involved in conflict management, and designed the PVHS Senior Times Newsletter. Shaun was also a member of the golf team, played baseball for Pinole Hercules Little League and was Senior Class President. He graduated with honors from Pinole Valley High School in 1996. While at California State University, Sacramento, he was elected Chair of the California State Student Association (CSSA) which serves as the statewide student body government for all the 23 campuses of the California State University system. In 1999, Shaun received the CSSA Chair's Award for Excellence in Student Advocacy. Nearly ten years later, CSSA honored him as CSSA's 2008 Alumnus of the Year. Shaun was also a proud alumnus of the Theta Xi Chapter of Sigma Chi International Fraternity.

Shaun utilized his education as he began. his career in 2002 as the Vice President of Government Affairs for the Long Beach Area Chamber of Commerce.
