TITLE
Recommendation to authorize City Manager to execute all documents necessary to implement and administer the Los Angeles County Proposition A Excess Funds for the Drake-Chavez Greenbelt Park, Martin Luther King, Jr. Park Playground renovation, Rotary Centennial Park shade shelter, and 21st to Hill Mini-Park projects. Increase appropriations in the Capital Improvement Projects Fund (CP) and in the Department of Public Works (PW) by $85,000; and in the Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine (PR) by $380,000. (Districts 1,4,6,7)
DISCUSSION
On March 8, 2005, the City Council approved two resolutions to apply for $465,000 in Los Angeles County Proposition A Excess Funds. Supervisor Don Knabe has notified the Department that the excess funding has been awarded for the following projects in Long Beach:
Drake-Chavez Greenbelt Park Proiect - $200,000 for the acquisition of one parcel of land on San Francisco Avenue.
Martin Luther Kina. Jr. Park Playground Renovation - $80,000 for playground renovation.
Rotary Centennial Park Shade Shelter - $85,000 for a shade shelter at Rotary Centennial Park.
21" to Hill Mini-Park - $100,000 for the construction of a new park along the Los Angeles River.
