DISCUSSION
City Council approval is requested to amend Contract No. 34553 with Tri Pacific Supply, Inc., and Contract No. 34554 with Ferguson US Holdings, Inc., to continue furnishing and delivering polyethylene plastic (PE) pipe and fittings to be used by Energy Resources (ER) and its contractors for the repair, maintenance, and construction of the City’s natural gas pipeline system.

At its meeting on February 21, 2017, the City Council awarded a contract to Tri Pacific Supply, Inc., and Ferguson Enterprises, Inc., as part of its adoption of ITB GO 17-004 for furnishing and delivering PE pipe and fittings on an as-needed basis for two years, with the option to renew for two additional one-year periods. The as-needed PE pipe and fittings contract provides ER with fixed unit prices to replace and relocate aging natural gas pipelines throughout Long Beach and Signal Hill, which is necessary for the safe and efficient delivery of natural gas to ER customers. Following the City’s Emergency Declaration related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the impact and continued demands of the pandemic on the City’s limited resources, it is prudent for the City to extend the original contract to ensure continuity of services.
