TITLE

Recommendation to approve the nomination of Mayor Bob Foster, Councilmember Suja Lowenthal, Councilmember Gary DeLong and Councilmember Tonia Reyes Uranga as the City's candidates to represent the Southeast/Long Beach Sector Subcommittee.

DISCUSSION

On September 1, Councilmember Bonnie Lowenthal resigned from her position as the Southeast/Long Beach Sector Representative on the Los Angeles County MTA Board.  California Public Utilities Code 130051 defines the process for selecting a representative to serve on the MTA Board.  

Given the discussion at the City Council meeting on September 9^th and the interest expressed by three council members to represent the Southeast/Long Beach Sector on the MTA Board of Directors, it is in the City's best interest to nominate all three members and the Mayor for consideration to insure flexibility and ultimate success in selecting the strongest candidate.

Approve recommendation.
