TITLE

Recommendation to authorize City Attorney to pay sum of $275,000, in full settlement of lawsuit entitled Daryl Reach v. City of Long Beach, et al., Los Angeles Superior Court Case No. BC671282.

DISCUSSION

Plaintiff alleges he was injured while assisting a City employee with disposing of a toilet in a City trash truck on February 2, 2017.

Following extensive negotiations, Plaintiff agreed to accept $275,000 - inclusive of attorneys' fees and costs - as a full, global settlement of this case.

The settlement was discussed in closed session, and approved, by the Economic Development and Finance Committee on November 19, 2019.

SUGGESTED ACTION

Approve recommendation.
