DISCUSSION
On August 28, 2010, a Long Beach Police officer, while driving a police vehicle, came in contact with fifty-nine year old Jose Zaragoza, at the intersection of Santa Fe and Pacific Coast Highway. Mr. Zaragoza was a pedestrian.
 
Mr. Zaragoza sustained serious injuries, including, but not limited to, a close head trauma with behavioral and cognitive impairment; a lacerated spleen, and various orthopedic injuries.
 
A full presentation was made to the City Council in closed session on July 16, 2013 at which time Council voted to approve settlement of the above referenced matter.

Approve recommendation.
