TITLE
Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $8,380, offset by the First Council District One-Time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide contributions to the following:
1. Dig Life, DBA: Dreamz Into Goals, in the amount of $1,000;
2. The United Cambodian Community in the amount of $2,500;
3. Centro CHA in the amount of $500;
4. Marcus Hobbs, DBA: Austin Marcus LLC, in the amount of $500;
5. ZW USA Inc., DBA: Zero Waste USA, in the amount of $880;
6. Five Keys Schools and Programs in the amount of $500;
7. California Families in Focus in the amount of $2,500;
Increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Parks, Recreation, and Marine Department by $3,059, offset by the First Council District One-Time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to cover the cost of name plaques currently installed at Harvey Milk Park; and
Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $11,439 to offset transfers to the City Manager and Parks, Recreation and Marine Departments.
DISCUSSION
On September 10th, 2022, at the Michael K. Green Skate Park, DIG LIFE, also known as Dreamz Into Goals, a 501(c)(3) organization, held the 2nd Annual LBC SKATE TURN UP. This event provided students with the means of getting to school, featuring free shoes, free skateboards, and free haircuts. This event provided youth in one of the lowest income areas of the First District the opportunity for fun as well as access to resources that make accessibility to school easier. It is appropriate for the City Council to support a funds transfer to DIG LIFE for the 2nd Annual LBC SKATE TURN UP.
