TITLE

Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $500, offset by the Seventh Council District One-time District Priority Funds, transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to Conservation Corps of Long Beach to support the Dine on Pine Event on June 26, 2023; and

Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group by $500 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.

DISCUSSION

Councilmember Uranga would like to support the Conservation Corps of Long Beach’s (CCLB) Dine on Pine event, which is CCLB’s annual fundraiser to support post-secondary education scholarships for current and former Corps members.

The mission of the Conservation Corps is to provide at-risk young adults and school-aged youth with opportunities for success through job skills training, education, and work experience with an emphasis on conservation and service projects that benefit the community. CCLB plays an integral role in the completion and maintenance of great projects throughout the City, including the Wrigley Greenbelt which was recently completed in District 7.

TIMING CONSIDERATIONS

[Timing Considerations]

FISCAL IMPACT

This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide funds to support the Conservation Corps of Long Beach’s Dine on Pine event as written above. The total appropriation increase of $500 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease of appropriation of Seventh Council District One-Time District Priority funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department. This recommendation is anticipated to have minimal impact on staff hours beyond the budgeted scope of duties and a minimal impact on existing Council priorities.
