TITLE

Recommendation to receive and file a report from the Disabled Resource Center on what services they provide to their clients through Employment Services program and how many people with disabilities have gained employment through their services in recognition of National Disability Employment Awareness Month.

DISCUSSION

National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) is observed each October. NDEAM celebrates the contributions of workers with disabilities and educates the workforce about the value of a diverse team which is inclusive of their skills and talents. This year's theme is #lnclusionWorks. The Disabled Resource Center works to promote independence within the disability community overall but especially through their Employment Services offered: Job Development, Resume Writing, Interview Skills, Mobility Training and Computer Training. The Disabled Resource Center is one of the smallest Independent Living Centers out of the 28 that are in California, but the Disabled Resource Center holds 3rd place in the California Independent Living Report for 2014- 2015 for providing excellent service.
