TITLE

Recommendation to receive and file a presentation from the Parks, Recreation and Marine and Water Departments on the status of water conservation efforts.  (Citywide)

DISCUSSION

At its April 21, 2015 meeting, the City Council requested the City Manager to provide a report to the City Council on the measures the City is taking to meet the State’s water conservation requirements.  The City Council also requested the Long Beach Water Department to report on additional measures it is implementing for residents and businesses.

On June 4, 2015, the City Manager and the General Manager of the Water Department issued a memo (Attachment) to the Mayor and Members of the City Council to provide information until such time as the presentation was scheduled.

This presentation is a cooperative effort between the Parks, Recreation and Marine and Water Departments.  The presentation will provide an overview of the City’s water conservation efforts that have been completed, those that are in process, and those that will be implemented in the coming months.

This matter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Linda Vu on August 18, 2015, and by Budget Management Officer Victoria Bell on August 19, 2015.

TIMING CONSIDERATIONS

In accordance with the City Council’s request, this presentation has been scheduled for September 1, 2015.
