TITLE

Recommendation to authorize City Attorney to pay the sum of $6,772.89 in full settlement of lawsuit entitled Liberty Mutual v. City of Long Beach, et al., Case No. 08C02834.

DISCUSSION

This lawsuit arises out of a City employee, while driving a City vehicle during the course and scope of his employment, colliding with plaintiff's insured's fehicle.  The suit is for property damage, which totaled $13,545.78.

The parties were able to reach a tentative settlement of $6,772.89, subject to City Council approval.

The Economic Development and Finance committee approved the proposed settlement on May 5, 2009.

Approve recommendation.
