TITLE
Recommendation to receive and file report on travel to San Francisco for the International Gay and Lesbian Leadership Conference, December 4, 2009.
DISCUSSION
On December 4, 2009, I traveled to San Francisco to take part in the 2009 International gay and Lesbian leadership Conference, hosted by the Gay and Lesbian Leadership Institute and Victory Fund. I returned to Long Beach the next day.
During the day I was in attendance, I had the opportunity to meet with gay, lesbian, and allied officials from all over California, the United States, and the world. The relationships established, and the strategies discussed, will greatly enhance the movement for gay and lesbian equality, something very important to Long Beach, given our historic support for gay and lesbian equality, and given our large population of gay and lesbian residents.
I am certain my experience at the conference will continue to bear fruit for our city for many years to come.
