TITLE
Recommendation to City Council to concur in recommendation of committee to receive and adopt the communications relating to the 2006 Elections Plan.
DISCUSSION
The Elections Oversight Committee, at its meeting held Monday, August 8, 2005, considered the above subject.
During the course of its discussion, the Committee touched on these points:
0 Status of Los Angeles County's response to the City's consolidation proposal regarding the June 2006 General Municipal (runoff) Election;
0 Adoption of a policy of strict enforcement and application of daily fines for those who fail to file required campaign finance filing statements by statutory due dates;
Work with Human Resources to develop appropriate City Employee poll worker program;
0 Exploration of a deposit by all campaign candidates for cost recovery of campaign sign removal by City staff, of signs located in the public right-of-way, during the election cycle.
It is the recommendation of the Elections Oversight Committee to the City Council that the communications relating to the 2006 Elections Plan be received and adopted.
