TITLE
Recommendation to authorize City Manager to execute a public walkways occupancy permit with canopy and windbreak sidewalls for sidewalk dining at Smooth's Sports Grille located at 144 Pine Avenue. (District 2)
DISCUSSION
Pine Avenue S&G, LLC, the operator of Smooth's Sports Grille, located at 144 Pine Avenue, requested a first time permit to temporarily occupy part of the adjoining sidewalk with tables, chairs, a barrier and a permanent canopy with windbreak sidewalls. This restaurant was previously operated by Widnes, Inc., under the name "Mum's Restaurant".
The proposed permit area, the canopy details, and a list of furnishings and accessories to be placed in the permit area are shown on the attached Exhibit A. The special requirements for permit area canopies are attached as Exhibit B. Approval of this permit is based on the standards established by Chapter 14 of the Long Beach Municipal Code.
This permit request has been reviewed and approved by the Planning and Building Department and the Long Beach Fire Department. The canopy structure was approved during the initial canopy application process and the drawings are on file with the Planning and Building Department. The subject permit was prepared by Deputy City Attorney Lisa Peskay Malmsten.
TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
City Council action on this matter is not time critical.
FISCAL IMPACT
A permit processing fee of $1,500.00 was deposited to the General Fund (GP) in the Department of Public Works (PW).
