TITLE
Recommendation to adopt resolution approving the appointment and terms of compensation for the City Clerk.
DISCUSSION
The City conducted a recruitment to hire a new City Clerk following the resignation of the Interim City Clerk.
Pursuant to California Government Code Section 54957, 54957.6 and Long Beach Charter Section 400 regarding Public Employee Appointment, the City Council took the following actions:
• May 16, 2017, the Council met in closed session to select the most qualified candidates to interview for the City Clerk vacancy.
• May 23, 2017, the Council met in closed session and discussed the appointment of Monique DeLaGarza as the City Clerk.
At the direction of the City Council, the City has reached an agreement regarding the compensation for the City Clerk. The proposed compensation must be approved by the City Council in open session. The proposed compensation for the City Clerk is $69.473 per hour or $145,000 on an annualized basis, plus a monthly car allowance of$450.00.
