TITLE
Recommendation to authorize City Attorney to pay the sum of $8,250 in full settlement of lawsuit entitled Southern California Edison Company v. City of Long Beach, Case No. 06C00198.
DISCUSSION
This lawsuit arises out of a Public Works employee severing an Edison fiber optic cable while trimming a tree. Edison sought reimbursement for the cost of repairing the cable.
Through negotiations between counsel, a tentative settlement of $8,250.00 was reached, subject to City Council approval.
The Economic Development and Finance Committee approved the proposed settlement on December 12,2006.
SUGGESTED ACTION
Approve recommendation.
