TITLE
Recommendation to authorize City Manager to execute a First Amendment to Agreement No. 30622 with Totum Corporation of Long Beach, CA, for as-needed materials testing and inspection, and construction management service for infrastructure and facility projects to extend the term of the agreement to December 31, 2011. (Citywide)
DISCUSSION
On September 4, 2007, the City Council approved a professional services agreement with Totum Corporation for as-needed materials testing and inspection and construction management service for infrastructure and facility projects.
Totum Corporation, a Long Beach-based firm, is currently working on three capital projects that require their services beyond the term of their current agreement. The current projects are the Belmont Pool Bulkhead Replacement Project, the Belmont Pool Bleacher Replacement Project, and the Bluff Erosion Control Project. Extension of the agreement will allow these projects to proceed without delays associated with changing the project team.
This matter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Gary J. Anderson and Acting Budget and Performance Management Bureau Manager Lou Palmer on November 23, 2010.
TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
City Council action is requested on December 14, 2010, to provide sufficient time to extend the agreement.
FISCAL IMPACT
No additional funds are being requested. The First Amendment is intended only to extend the contract term of the Agreement through December 31, 2011.
There are two local full-time jobs assisting with this project.
SUGGESTED ACTION
Approve recommendation.
