DISCUSSION
City Council approval is requested to enter into a contract with Crosstown Electrical & Data, Inc., for construction and services related to the upgrading of parking guidance and wayfinding systems at four downtown parking structures located at the Aquarium of the Pacific and City Place Lots A, B, and C (Exhibit A). Vehicle occupancy boards will be installed at each garage entrance providing integrated communication about space availability within the garage. Deployment of a centralized software system that communicates with the parking structure vehicle occupancy boards is included as part of the project.

The bid was advertised in the Long Beach Press-Telegram on July 1, 2017, and 10,064 potential bidders specializing in construction services were notified of the bid opportunity. Of those bidders, 76 downloaded the bid via the City’s electronic bid system. The bid document was made available from the Purchasing Division, located on the seventh floor of City Hall, and the Division’s website at www.longbeach.gov/purchasing . A bid announcement was also included in the Purchasing Division’s weekly update of Open Bid Opportunities, which is sent to 22 local, minority, and women-owned business groups.
