TITLE
Recommendation to decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $320 to adjust a previously approved Third Council District One-time District Priority Fund transfer to support the Glendora Neighborhood Watch Group community block party and also correct the entity receiving the funds from the Glendora Neighborhood Watch Group to Vallie O’Donnell; and
Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $320 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.
DISCUSSION
On October 19, 2021, City Council approved appropriation for a $500 donation to the Glendora Neighborhood Watch Group to support a community block party. The Third Council District has submitted this request to correct the recipient and the amount of funds being requested. These funds will be used to help create communities where neighbors work together to build relationships that strengthen the neighborhood, community block parties can be a great tool. Long Beach continues to prioritize the establishment of community watch programs where residents know one another and encourage safety throughout their neighborhood, therefore the City should help support this event.

STATEMENT OF URGENCY:
Funding is sought as soon as possible for the event which was held October 30, 2021.
FISCAL IMPACT
This recommendation requests the City Manager to adjust the City Council item to support the Glendora Neighborhood Watch Group community Block Party that was approved on October 19, 2021. This request lowers the amount by $320 and corrects the receiving entity. The $320 savings will be returned back to the Third Council District One-time Priority Funds. The requested action is anticipated to require a minimal level of staff hours beyond the budgeted scope of duties and is expected to have minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.
