TITLE

DISCUSSION
The California Endowment (TCE) has awarded the City of Long Beach $132,612 to establish the Long Beach Health Access Collaborative (LBHAC) Program and implement community outreach and education on the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The program will promote enrollment in Medi-Cal and Healthy Families to diverse communities in Long Beach.

The Department of Health and Human Services will work with local service providers, community-based agencies, faith-based organizations, and other community stakeholders to effectively spread the word about ACA options to the diverse population of Long Beach.

LBHAC will provide effective outreach to all populations eligible for coverage through the ACA through identifying and convening key community partners, effectively disseminating ACA information to the target population, conducting community education to promote services and information available through the collaborative and educating the public on the ACA, promoting enrollment and retention efforts to populations eligible for current health care programs, and utilizing the collaborative to identify and address barriers related to accessing health care.
This matter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Linda Vu on February 12, 2013 and by Budget Management Officer Victoria Bell on February 21, 2013.
