DISCUSSION
City Council approval is requested to enter into a contract with Los Angeles Truck Centers, LLC, to purchase an Autocar Xpeditor line striper truck for use by the Public Works Department, Public Service Bureau. This proposed striper truck has a 15,500-pound payload capacity and is equipped with a comprehensive body that includes a full street painting system as well as onboard hydraulic and air compressor outfitting. The truck body includes a laser-guided line painting system, a rear operator cab with full controls, and glass bead spray capability. The equipment will be used by the Public Service Bureau to maintain and mark streets, alleys, and public areas of the City of Long Beach with long-duration safety and directional markings. This vehicle is replacing a unit that is 20 years old and was approved for procurement in the Fiscal Year 16 replacement plan.

The bid was advertised in the Long Beach Press-Telegram on November 16, 2021, and 35 potential bidders specializing in alternative fuel trucks were notified of the bid opportunity. Of those bidders, 7 downloaded the bid via the City’s electronic bid system. The bid document was made available from the Purchasing Division, located on the 6th floor of City Hall, and the Division’s website at www.longbeach.gov/purchasing .
