TITLE
Recommendation to authorize City Manager to execute a public walkways occupancy permit for sidewalk dining at the La Parolaccia Osteria Restaurant located at 2945 East Broadway. (District 2)
DISCUSSION
Tricolore, Inc., the operator of the La Parolaccia Osteria Restaurant, requests a permit to temporarily occupy part of the adjoining sidewalk for the purpose of sidewalk dining.
The proposed permit area and a list of furnishings and accessories to be placed in the permit area are shown on the attached Exhibit A. Approval of this permit is based on the conditions and standards of Chapter 14.14 of the Long Beach Municipal Code, which describes temporary use of public right-of-way. The width of the public sidewalk at this location is 10 feet. A minimum clearance of 5 feet shall be maintained between the proposed permit area and the street trees adjacent to the restaurant.
This permit request was reviewed and approved by the Long Beach Fire Department on July 10, 2006. The subject permit was prepared by Deputy City Attorney Lisa Peskay Malmsten August 9, 2006.
TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
City Council action on this matter is not time critical.
FISCAL IMPACT
A permit-processing fee of $500 was deposited to the General Fund (GP) in the Department of Public Works (PW).
