TITLE
Recommendation to authorize City Attorney to submit Joint Stipulations with Request for Award for approval by the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board, and if so approved, authority to pay 1) $203,377.50 for Joint Stipulations with Request for Award, and also 2) to pay $231.92 per week, subject to cost of living increases as determined by the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board, for a Life Pension thereafter in compliance with the Appeals Board Order for Michael Horan.
DISCUSSION
Michael Horan has made claims for injuries allegedly sustained in the course of his employment with the City of Long Beach. The Economic Development and Finance Committee on July 6, 2013, approved the submission to the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board of Joint Stipulations with Request for Award by the City and Michael Horan, based upon 1) a 90 percent disability rating and 2) a further provision for a Life Pension at the rate of $231.92 per week, subject to cost of living increases, after the permanent disability has been fully paid. Finally, there would be a provision for lifetime medical care as may be necessary.

Approve recommendation.
