DISCUSSION
BACKGROUND:

Los Angeles County Community Development Foundation (LACDF) is the non-profit partner of the Los Angeles County Community Development Agency (LACDA), which provides subsidized housing, community services, and many other programs that benefit residents in need county- wide. LACDF’s Resident Scholarship Program supports the education of public housing residents through financial assistance to pursue higher education at a 4-year university, community college, or vocational training program. Carmelitos, an over 700-unit public housing complex serviced by LACDA and home to many seeking higher education, is located in the heart of the 8th District. This donation will ensure the Resident Scholarship Program is equipped with funds to help our local students achieve their academic goals.

Speak Up Empowerment Foundation, Inc. (SUEF) is a local non-profit aimed at providing support for single parent families, particularly families headed by single moms in the Greater Long Beach area. On Saturday, April 22, SUEF and its partners are hosting the 7th Annual Ms. Single Mom Empowerment Forum.
