TITLE
Recommendation to repeal Resolution No. C-16568 and adopt resolution authorizing City Manager or designee to accept and consent to deeds or grants conveying any interest in real estate to the City of Long Beach. (Citywide)
DISCUSSION
A deed or grant conveying any interest in real estate to a governmental agency for public purposes shall not be accepted for recordation without the consent of the governmental agency, as shown by a certificate or resolution of acceptance attached to or printed on the deed or grant. Pursuant to California Government Code section 27281, a city may authorize by resolution one or more officers or agents to accept and consent to such deeds on its behalf.
In 1957 the City Council adopted Resolution No. C-16568, authorizing the City Attorney to accept and consent to deeds and grants, including easements, requiring an additional step in the approval process. In order to streamline the process, it is recommended that the City Manager or designee be authorized to act in this capacity.
TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
This matter is not time sensitive.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no additional cost associated with approval of this recommendation.
SUGGESTED ACTION
Approve recommendation.
