DISCUSSION
On June 17, 2003, the City Council authorized the City Manager to execute consultant agreements with 3D/lnternational, Inc., Concept Marine Associates, Inc., and CBM Consulting, Inc., to perform as-needed construction management services for the City of Long Beach. Each agreement was written for $1,000,000 with a three-year term. On December 7, 2004, the City Council subsequently approved First Amendments to each agreement adding $1,000,000 to cover additional work. (City Council letters attached as Exhibit A).

These consultants have provided the Public Works Department with the necessary support and resources required to properly manage the City’s Capital Improvement Program (see attached Exhibit B for a description of these services). The consultants’ work includes assistance with bidding and pre-construction activities, which continue throughout construction and ends upon completion of the final punch walk. Examples of recent and on-going critical projects undertaken by these consultants include, but are not limited to, Chavez Park Amphitheater, Houghton Park Skate Park, Admiral Kidd Teen Center, MacArthur Park Branch Library, Citywide Facility Repairs, and Silverado Park Pool Rehabilitation.
