TITLE
Recommendation to request City Manager to have the LGBTQ Pride flag fly every day at city hall to show support for the LGBTQ community here in Long Beach and nationwide until the LGBTQ community has equal rights nationwide.
DISCUSSION
While there has been significant progress in the LGBTQ community's fight for equal rights in the last few years there is much more that needs to happen for true equality. Some states have enacted blatantly discriminatory laws in a backlash to marriage equality and national efforts such as the equality act are stalled in Congress. Long Beach has a proud tradition of leading on equal rights and celebrating is LGBTQ community. Flying the pride flag everyday is a symbol that we support the community as the fight continues.

There should be no fiscal impact of this action.
