TITLE

Recommendation to authorize City Manager, or designee, to execute an agreement, and any subsequent amendments thereto, between the City of Long Beach and CREA/PPC Long Beach Towne Center PO, LLC, to provide as-needed supplemental law enforcement and security services at the Long Beach Towne Center, for a period of six months, with the option to extend for additional six-month periods.  (District 5)

DISCUSSION

Since 2003, the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) has provided law enforcement and security services at the Long Beach Towne Center (LBTC).  LBTC has requested that LBPD continue to provide supplemental law enforcement services.  The proposed services would be provided, as-needed, for six-month terms, as determined by the Chief of Police.  LBPD personnel includes Police Officers, Police Corporals and Police Sergeants.  Either party may terminate the agreement with 30 days written notice.

This matter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Monica J. Kilaita on May 17, 2016 and by Budget Operations Administrator Grace Yoon on May 20, 2016.

TIMING CONSIDERATIONS

City Council action is requested on June 21, 2016, to ensure the contract is in place expeditiously.

FISCAL IMPACT

The total cost of services provided under this agreement will be fully offset by reimbursement revenue from LBTC.  There is no local job impact associated with this recommendation.
