Recommendation to adopt resolution authorizing City Manager to accept a total of $553,050 in Housing-Related Parks Program grant funding, awarded by the California Department of Housing and Community Development, for the replacement of the playground and the rehabilitation of park amenities and park grounds at MacArthur Park; and execute any documents necessary for the administration of the project. DISCUSSION
On January 7, 2014, the City Council adopted a Resolution authorizing the City Manager to apply for grant funding through the California Department of Housing and Community Development, Housing-Related Parks Program, for the replacement of the playground and the rehabilitation of park amenities and park grounds at MacArthur Park, located at 1321 E. Anaheim Street. On August 19, 2014, the City Council accepted and appropriated the award of $553,050 in grant funding.
Recently, the Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine was notified by the California Department of Housing and Community Development of the new requirement to specify the grant award amount of $553,050 in the Resolution. City Council action is required to adopt the attached Resolution, which specifies the grant award amount of $553,050.
This matter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Kendra L. Carney on November 13, 2014 and by Budget Management Officer Victoria Bell on November 12, 2014.
TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
City Council action is requested on December 9, 2014, in order to allow timely execution of the grant contract.
FISCAL IMPACT
As the $553,050 in grant funding was previously appropriated by the City Council on August 19, 2014, there is no additional fiscal impact associated with the approval of the attached Resolution. There is no impact to jobs associated with the recommended action.
