DISCUSSION
In 2005, Representative Linda Sanchez secured for the City $431,173 in Federal Highway Administration Demonstration funds for the resurfacing of Paramount Boulevard, between Candlewood Street and Artesia Boulevard. The funding was programmed with an expenditure year of 2010-2011. Based on this timeline, the project was recently put out to bid and can now be awarded.

The anticipated rehabilitation work on Paramount Boulevard will consist of: replacing damaged curbs and gutters, removing old asphalt and resurfacing the street with rubberized asphalt, installing required accessibility improvements, new pavement markings, traffic striping, and vehicle loop detectors at signalized intersections.

City Council’s adoption of the plans and specifications and award of the contract to the lowest responsible bidder are being recommended concurrently in order to expedite implementation of this project. The project was advertised for bids on November 15, 2010, and bids were opened on December 15, 2010.
