DISCUSSION
City Council approval is requested to enter into a contract with All American Asphalt for street improvements. The street infrastructure on Santa Fe Avenue between Spring Street and Wardlow Road is in need of rehabilitation. The rehabilitation work consists of replacing damaged curbs and gutters, driveways, alley entrances, sidewalks, trimming, and root shaving trees; reconstructing areas of deteriorated pavement; cold milling and resurfacing the pavement; and installing pavement markers, markings, traffic striping, signing and curb paint. The bid was advertised in the Press-Telegram on November 12, 2014 and 3,182 potential bidders specializing in street construction were notified of the bid opportunity. Of those notified, 98 downloaded the bid via our electronic bid system. The bid document was made available from the Purchasing Division, located on the seventh floor of City Hall, and the Division's website at www.longbeach.gov/purchasing. A bid announcement was also included in the Purchasing Division's weekly update of Open Bid Opportunities, which is sent to 30 local, minority and women-owned business groups.
