DISCUSSION
Summer concerts in the park serve to bring Long Beach residents, families, and communities together in fun positive ways while we enjoy warm evenings in our beautiful parks. With the last sixteen months of closures and social distancing it is important that we provide opportunities for residents to enjoy the city and begin reconnecting with friends and neighbors. The City sees significant benefits from supporting events designed to highlight and promote the positive aspects of Long Beach, our communities, and our parks and therefore should contribute to this concert in the park.

As part of the Adopted FY 20 Budget, the City Council allocated $235,000 of Special Advertising and Promotions Fund Group (SAP) funds available to be divided equally between the City Council Districts to be used towards SAP-qualified special events or contributions, managed by the Office of Special Events and Filming in the City Manager Department. This recommendation is requesting that $2,490 of the Third Council District One-time SAP District Priority Funds be allocated for this special event.

This matter was reviewed by Budget Manager Grace H. Yoon on July 1, 2021.
